How We Work

The inspection comes first, always

We do not quote roofing over the phone. A roof price given sight-unseen is a guess, and guesses get revised upward once the work starts and the first defect is uncovered. We attend, we get on the roof where it is safe to do so, and we look inside the roof space for the evidence that the surface does not show.

You see the photographs before you see the price

Homeowners are routinely asked to authorise roofing work they have never laid eyes on. We photograph every defect we intend to quote on and walk you through those images on the ground, so the quote describes something you have already seen.

Fixed price, in writing, itemised

Our quotes list each item of work separately and state what is excluded. The price does not change unless you ask for additional work, and if we uncover something genuinely hidden during the job, we stop and talk to you before spending your money.

We say no when a repair is the wrong answer

Some roofs are past repairing, and patching them is money spent twice. If restoration or replacement is the honest recommendation we will tell you, explain the reasoning, and leave the decision with you.

From there we get onto the roof where it is safe, inspect the roof space where access allows, and photograph each defect we intend to quote on.

The written scope follows within a couple of days. It separates what must be fixed now from what is sensible maintenance and what can wait a season or two, because bundling those together is how homeowners end up paying for work they did not need. If the recommendation is that the roof is nearing the end of its service life, the quote says so plainly rather than proposing repeated patch repairs. Once the work is approved we agree a start date, protect the areas beneath the working zone, complete the scope, clear debris and document the finished result with photographs you keep.

What We Will Not Do

We do not quote roofing sight-unseen, and we do not price over the phone from a description. We do not use pressure tactics, same-day-only discounts, or scare photographs taken on a different roof. We do not recommend a full restoration where a targeted repair solves the problem, and we do not begin additional work mid-job without speaking to you first. If a job is outside what we do well — commercial roofing, complex heritage slate, structural work requiring an engineer — we say so and point you toward the right trade rather than learning on your house.

Working With Insurance Claims

Storm and hail seasons bring claims, and claims need evidence. Our inspection reports include dated photographs, a description of the damage observed and a written scope of the repair required, which is the material an insurer typically asks for. We do not advise on policy terms or make representations about what an insurer will accept — that is between you and your insurer — but we do make sure the roofing information in front of them is accurate and complete.
